~So Here is the rest of the story!~

An Upstate couple's dream wedding nearly crashed and burned after a man drove a car through the church just hours before the ceremony.

Thankfully, Levi and Carrie Shook's church family chipped in to make sure that they got to say their "I do's."The Shooks were set to be married at the New Hope Baptist Church in Seneca on Nov. 14. Just hours before the ceremony, Judy Shook said she got a call from her son, the groom."My son called me about 9 a.m. Saturday morning and said, 'Momma, preacher Brian just called me and someone ran through the fellowship building.' And I said, 'Uh-uh,'" she said. The pastor said he found a large hole in the reception hall and a Ford Taurus inside. "This is where the car hit the building. Once we got in here, there was debris everywhere," he said. "Our initial shock of seeing the car against the wall over here was pretty amazing."The impact was so powerful that the car was turned completely around, leaving it to rest against the opposite wall. The man behind the wheel walked away from the crash with broken ribs but left a mangled mess in the hall where the reception was to be held. Investigators said they believe the man blacked out before crashing the car.Church members were determined to give the Shooks the wedding they wanted and quickly moved the reception down the street."It's a miracle from God is the only thing I can say," Judy Shook said. The Shooks are now on their honeymoon.

I Think this news report is a little more on how things really happened then what I found last night. There was a few things left out on why the man blacked out but again news reports don't tell things 100% but on well...

~Car strikes Oconee Co Church~

"A car struck a church Saturday afternoon in rural Oconee County. The accident occurred at New Hope Baptist Church and Highway 188. According to information received from authorities at the scene, the impact broke windows and damaged the pastor's office. Apparently no one was inside the church at the time of the accident, which is under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol." - Well from what I saw tonight the pastor's office was in the other building... and it did more then broke a window. It went trough the fellowship building out the other side. Taking chairs and two brick walls with it. I wonder what Greenville News 4 will say about it as they where there tonight talking about it and filming what happen a few days ago. It is funny what news reporter report and what really happens. Other then that the kids seem to have a good night tonight at church beside the big hole in the building LOL! They had to move the play time outside instead of in the fellowship building but I don't think the kids minded too much. It was the 1st time Emily didn't cry when we took her to her class. You could tell she was not happen but seem to do okay for the most part.

Updates.....

Well it seems everything I try to give a update or sit down to blog It just never happens. It seems I am being pulled in every other direction but the one I want to go sometimes. I guess I need to learn to say "No" more and take more time for me. Well for the most part besides being sick there is not really anything new for me. I am so tired of getting sick and if it is not that, my back goes out. At times I feel I am just falling apart. I sure feel that way... LOL well I because I don't have much going on right now I guess I can update you on everyone else.
Debbie: After weeks of trying to get her to update her phone. She ordered her new Verizon phone today. She is going with the LG enV3 in maroon. I think it will be a good phone for her. It is a way step up from her old flip phone she has had for years. With the new every two it was free for her to upgrade so that was nice. I will be should to give a review of how I like it later in the coming months. I am due for a new phone with my new every two as well. But at this point I don't really know what I want. I have a okay phone and I enjoy the one I got a few months back. So I am not really in a rush to get a new one at this time. I might wait until after the 1st of the year as I know Verizon is going to have a few more phones come out. I have looked at the new Droid that came out this past week but I kinda want to wait and see the next one that comes out. It seems to be a really good phone at this point but I am not real big on the look of the phone. As two It is the first one they have out and from the past I have learned sometimes the 1st is not always the best. So maybe I will wait for the Droid II to come out.. When it does, if it does. I know the Idon't what the Droid does. LOL (Jokes) I have also looked at the Blackberry Storm 2 but Not sure if that is something that I really want. So yeah that is why I am going to wait and see what is to come this next year...
Emily: She is still growing and getting smarter each day. She can now pick up trash and instead of eating it she takes it to the trash can. I looked in the trash can last week and found a old toy of hers. I don't think she likes playing with it anymore as I found it there again the other day.
Carolina: She is not a city dog. she went and got a groom this past week and she smells like a poodle. LOL We got her a new PINK collar with a new updated dog tag. I think she really enjoyed getting groomed and having her nails clipped. Maybe we will do it again.
Well that is about it for us. We are "off" this weekend if we can really ever be off. LOL So I hope to get much needed rest before another busy week before thanksgiving. Have you ever notice that the nightly news is so stressful if you watch it. I think all they like to talk about is people killing people, and people dieing.... I feel I have to take a happy pill just to watch the news LOL Oh well. I think this is becoming a long pointless blog so I should go. Till next time

Jonathan

The "Blacksmith"

I came across this story this morning and had to share it. I don't know if this really happened or not and more then likely it didn't but what a great way of digging into God's word!

Malachi 3:3 says:
"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.."

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities...
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says:
"He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver."

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -when I see my image in it."
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

That that is just plain good truth. Even in all my pain in my back it is good to know that He watches over us and that we are made in His image. a great reminder for the day!

In His Grip,

Jonathan

Back Pain!

Okey so here I am again with anther post that has taken me weeks to get out. I am not sure if I am just forgetting to post or if I am just so busy it is the last thing I really want to do..... I think in all truth I have just been too busy to blog. There has been a lot going on over the past few weeks so here is a short recap of everything:
Debbie's Birthday was about a week ago and I have been wanting to get her this gift for years now and just have not had the money or not been able to find it but this year I said was the year for me to get it for her. So I found it at discount price and Hope she enjoyed it. It was a "willow tree" the company not a real tree.
Emily has been growing and getting smarter as the days go by. I could write a book on all the things she is doing and how she keeps me smiling everyday.
In work news things are busying and over the past few weeks and even days have been trying to get more of our yearly training. We are working on TCI training this week and next. I am so not looking forward to the test we have to take on it all. I am about 95% sure I will not pass. But when it comes to most test I don't!
In other news. over the past two weeks I have been fighting with back pain. really bad back pain. I have been takeing meds and resting it during the day. Well the other day I was out feeling better working in the yard, getting things ready for the winters months here. I went to get the garden cart that goes on the back of the garden tractor that you put dirt, tools and stuff in while working out side. Well dumb me I put in on it on the back hook of the tractor not looking it in place at the time as I was only going a few 100 yards and it had ants on the look of the chart. I would lock it before I would put anything in it later. Well while coming down hill of the hilly driveway the girls where being kids (not thinking) and came from behind running up to the back of the chart to jump in it. well with it not being locked down it came off the hook and hit me in the back. Ya well skipping to today. I am still in bed with ice packs and alot of meds. Monday I go in to see my doctor. He said if I could not stand the pain before then he would make a house call and come check things out. Today I am able to get up and walk again I just still can't bend down or turn a full left or right. I am finding that I feel better today if I sleep it off. before it didn't matter if I took a nap or not it still hurt, so maybe things are looking up a little. I am still in a lot of pain and not sleeping all that well. But I guess it will take a little of time. I am glad however we are back in the upstate area where my back doctor is. As you may know I hate doctors and think the only doctors I should ever have is my Eye Doctor and my Back Doctor other then that NO WAY!!!!

In Pain,
Jonathan

My Daily Prayer!

Dear Lord,
So for today... I have been doing all right, I have not gasped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or judgmental, I have not whined, complained, cursed or eaten any chocolate. I have charged nothing on my credit card. But I will be getting out of bed in a minute and I think I will really need your help then.

Love, Your child

~Quick Post~

Okay so here is a "quick post". Every blue moon I a quick post when I have been behind on posting daily or weekly. As I write this I sit in the driveway watching the girls ride their bikes... and just saved Emily from under the big van (don't ask how she got there) all while enjoying the cool air from the mountains coming down. I have to said I am not really enjoying that it rains here so much but I do enjoy the wind and cool days like today. Beside being busy almost everyday and running around the place we have been enjoying ourselves for the most part. When there is nothing to do we find things to do or we sleep like never before. I have to force myself to rest during the day when kids are not home or my back and feet will hurt really bad. Debbie and I had to take our reclass and training for CPR, First Aid, and AED. To be honest I really didn't like this training. It was to first time I have not used one by the Red Cross. Don't get me wrong the teacher of it was not bad it was the content of the stuff that I disliked. Maybe it's just me or maybe I am just a long time fan of how Red Cross does it and the terms they use. In some ways it felt as if I had to retain myself on something I know a lot about as It is something I have done for years. But it is over now and all is well. If for some reason I have to ever use any of it I would use the stuff I learned with Red Cross not this other training. Plus I think Red Cross is simpler and to the point. Okay in other news a more lighter side of things here is a few pictures I have taken on campus that I found to be really neat.
In His Grip,
Jonathan
